A crew building a deck on a Spring Close Highway house ran out of the cedar planks they were using shortly after beginning work on the morning of March 17. The contractor had left about 45 planks stacked in the driveway the day before, but they vanished during the night. Oscar Cascante valued the missing lumber at $850.

Gale-force winds downed limbs and trees all over village roads on Sunday morning.

Amagansett

The exterior of a house on Hampton Lane in Beach Hampton was vandalized last Thursday night. Steve Singer told police that two eggs had been thrown at the house, striking the front door and an outside wall.

East Hampton Village

Workers installing an irrigation system on a Georgica Road property struck a gas line on March 22. Police were able to shut the line down before firefighters arrived.

Northwest Woods

A Hands Creek Road woman went to police headquarters in Wainscott on March 22 carrying ashes from burned letters and magazines.

Between Feb. 26 and Feb. 29, according to East Hampton Town police, Bridget Lynch, 35, left the house with a Shih Tzu named Honey and a boxer named Rudy. Both dogs were valued at more than $1,000, making the charges felonies.

Met by Flying Liquor Bottle

The first officer to arrive was greeted with a flying liquor bottle, police said, which came close to striking him. When confronted, the defendant, who police said appeared either drunk or drugged, took off running into the woods, but was soon apprehended.

Someone damaged the passenger-side mirror of a 2006 Kia parked in the lot behind some North Main Street shops on the night of Feb. 9. Christian Londano told police it was not the first time his car has been vandalized in that lot, and estimated the cost of the incident to be about $100.

 

East Hampton Village

A Main Street resident called police on Feb. 10 when she saw a fawn in her backyard with what appeared to be a lame leg. When police arrived, the deer was gone.

Amagansett

A 2009 Nissan parked in the lot north of Amagansett Main Street was vandalized by someone using a sharp instrument, possibly a key, overnight on Jan. 19. Two phrases in Spanish were scratched on the vehicle, which belongs Jorge Paucarpauta. He had loaned the car to a friend for the day, he told police.

East Hampton Village

Police and the East Hampton Fire Department were called to Georgica Beach on the evening of Feb. 1, where they found and extinguished a fire. The fuel for the fire was old beach fencing.

Arrested on Way to Court

Michael T. Dolson of Sound Beach, 42, was on his way to East Hampton Town Justice Court last Thursday in connection with a June 2015 drunken-driving charge when police pulled him over and found he was driving without a valid license.

East Hampton

A Montauk teen left her mother’s 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck parked at a friend’s house off Pantigo Road Friday night as she joined a group of youths out for the evening. In the morning, the truck would not start. It was discovered that someone had poured Cascade dishwashing detergent into the gas tank. The truck was towed to Marshall and Sons Service Station in Montauk. Repairs will cost anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000.

A 2005 Pontiac parked outside a Morris Park Lane house was badly damaged overnight on Saturday.

Teen Football Star Is Jailed



An East Hampton teenager spent six days in county jail last week after being arrested on a felony charge of criminal mischief.

Jordan A. Johnson, 17, a star player on East Hampton High School’s football team this past season, was charged by East Hampton Town police with the destruction of property. Under state law, if the charge is a felony, a minor’s identity is not cloaked, as it would be for a less serious offense.

Jordan, who was arrested on Jan. 26, allegedly became enraged when he could not use his mother’s car to go to school to take a test.

Jailed for Driving High



Thursday, the day that criminal matters are heard in East Hampton Town Justice Court, has been a busy day this past month. Last Thursday, for example, the calendar listed no fewer than 75 defendants.

Ronald A. King of East Hampton, 62, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence of crack cocaine and was sentenced to 60 days in the county jail. Mr. King is awaiting sentencing in another case as well, having admitted on Jan. 8 in county court to a felony charge of grand larceny, stemming from an incident that took place last February.

Amagansett

A Merrils Road woman using the online selling service Wallop.com told police she was out two Michael Kors watches, after shipping them last month to a would-be buyer. MaryAnne Janetschek valued the watches at $950 together. The person had told her that payment was on its way via MoneyGram, she told police. Ms. Janetschek shipped the watches, but never received payment, and later learned that the thief did not have a MoneyGram account.
