Artists and Writers
The next iteration of the Artists and Writers dinner series at Almond restaurant in Bridgehampton will feature Jessica Soffer, the author of the novels “Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots” and the just-published “This Is a Love Story,” on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Work by Ms. Soffer, who lives in Sag Harbor, has appeared in Granta, The New York Times, Real Simple, Saveur, The Wall Street Journal, and Vogue, among other publications.
A three-course family-style meal will be served with a glass of wine or draft beer for $59, including gratuity. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the restaurant at 631-537-5665.
Farm to Table
“Local Flavors,” the winter lecture series at Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack, will pair local chefs and farmers for conversations about producing food on small farms and turning it into delicious dishes.
The first program, set for Sunday at 3 p.m., will bring Licia Householder of Loaves and Fishes Cookshop and Jo Halsey of the Green Thumb, to Madoo. On March 23, also at 3, Jason Weiner, the chef and co-owner of Almond restaurant, and Marilee Foster of Foster Farm will be the speakers.
Among the likely topics are how the East End pivoted from growing potatoes to raising gourmet vegetables, how the local restaurant scene has changed, and how the availability of local produce has influenced the region’s menus.
Tickets for each talk are $35, $31.50 for members.
Sandwich Platters
The Loaves and Fishes Food Store in Sagaponack has a new sandwich platter menu that features almost 20 different vegetarian, meat/poultry, and fish sandwiches that can be combined to create platters for holiday gatherings, community celebrations, or business luncheons.
Vegetarian options include roast peppers and hummus, curried egg salad, avocado and egg, and roasted portobello with balsamic and blue cheese. The fish sandwiches include smoked salmon and cucumber, pickled herring with fennel apple slaw, and, with a supplemental charge, a lobster roll. Chicken schnitzel with salsa, Mexican chicken salad, and roasted turkey with coriander lime or cranberry chutney are among the meat/poultry choices.
All sandwiches are freshly made at the shop just before pickup. The complete menu is on the shop’s website.
