    Jim Shelly made the difficult decision to leave the Sag Harbor Getty gas and service station because he had no choice, he said Monday.     East Hampton Physical Therapy is a new physical therapy office in Montauk run by Rachel Lys, formerly of the Montauk Playhouse. She opened it on Dec. 3 and the business is growing, but she wants to get the word out.

    The space is next door to the new offices of the Concerned Citizens of Montauk. Ms. Lys and her husband, David Lys, a personal trainer, transformed it, doing the work themselves to make it bright and airy.

    Kelly Connaughton has been elected as the new president of the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce for 2013. She is the president of the Sag Harbor American Music Festival, which has been a boon to the village’s residents, businesses, and musicians.

Boat Show Outing

    The Hampton Jitney has put together a package deal for those who would like to see the New York Boat Show at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan on Saturday. A bus will leave from the Jitney stop in East Hampton Village at 8:30 a.m., making stops in Bridgehampton and Southampton. The return trip departs at 5 p.m.

   The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended to Jan. 28 the deadline for individuals to apply for financial assistance with physical losses due to Hurricane Sandy.

    On Long Island, the extension is open to people living in Suffolk, Nassau, and Queens. It is also open to those on Staten Island, in the Bronx, and in Kings, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester Counties.    WordHampton Public Relations has been recognized with a MarCom Award for its work on Long Island Restaurant News, a Web site on the region’s dining scene.

   Sweet ’Tauk, a brand already known for its many flavored lemonades that were sold in farmers markets and in two dozen retail shops from Montauk to Bridgehampton last summer, has leased a shop in Montauk and expanded its inventory for the holidays to include the work of local artisans.

    Thanksgiving weekend brought a crush of visitors to Amagansett, and the shops and restaurants of Main Street enjoyed brisk business. Among them was Ganeaux, which opened at 167 Main Street on Nov. 24.

    Christine Ganeaux, formerly a co-owner of Rube, across the street in Amagansett Square, hand-picked all of the merchandise in her new shop, which features an eclectic assortment of clothing, jewelry, accessories, books, scented candles, and more.
